First! Always wanted to do that…great eppie!

I demand the return of the rightful third chair! Has Mr Francis offended someone in NNF HQ?
April 29th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
First Rev Horton Heat reference on the podcast? I think so.
And also, in Matt’s defense, I feel obligated to remind Mr. Pardo of his Roscoe Chicken and Waffles comment at the beginning of episode 307.

This was a good episode. It’s nice when new people fit in, like how Janet Varney was far and away the best guest from last season. When’s she going to be back, btw?
April 29th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Hey, for those of you who watch the video, Andrew put the audible.com commercials in at the end!
I’ve found myself watching this season more than listening to it, so thanks Mr. Koenig for making that possible.

Pat is usually every 4th episode, so I bet we’ll see him next week. Unless he’s off to London again. Or on a pirate ship.

Jesse Thorn has instantly shot into the top 5, for me. These episodes just keep getting better.
April 29th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
In case Matt forgot, the time for the “Y’all got claim to fame?” line is 43:34.
April 29th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
As a fan of both NNF and the Maximumfun universe (primo plus subscriber and donor respectively) I have to say this was better than any of Jimmy’s previous appearances on TSoYA or JJGo!.
Don’t get me wrong, all other times were great, but this outdid them all. Now I’m wondering if Jordan Morris will get a solo go on NNF?
April 29th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
Oh, that’s for the video, btw.
Favorite part of Matt’s angry character, his headphones falling down.
Judge Jimmy video intro was hilarious!
I have a position on the case. In certain grocery stores, they have the bags behind the cashier, so that when the cashier is done, then he or she bags the groceries. Now in other grocery stores, they have it in front of them, so as the cashier scans the item, he or she immediately puts it into the bag, and as the bag fills up, he or she puts the bag into the cart. It’s much, much faster that way and I speak from experience as I worked in a grocery store had the former bagging placement. It is the store’s responsibility to correct that situation, not the cashier or the customer. That aside, I agree with Matt that the customer could have helped out, however it was not required.

jesse has the best radio voice, and it’s great finally hearing it on the podcast!!! now time to go back and listen to the ultimate podcast crossover on jordan jesse go…
April 30th, 2009 at 7:07 am
It took me until about 8 minutes before the end of the podcast before I realized who it was Jesse Thorn sounded like. He has remarkably similar cadence to Andy Daly…the falsely incredulous sentences that go from low to high pitch.
Both good guests, but I spent more than an hour going “WHY DO I KNOW THiS VOICE?!”
…I’m crazy, aren’t I? Damn. I thought maybe my taxidermy really WAS just a hobby.
April 30th, 2009 at 8:29 am
My fav is when Jimmy tells both Matt & Andrew to ‘…Shut for an Up’ HI-larious!!!(1:13:25). I so hard I had tears in my eyes!!! amazing NNF moment!
April 30th, 2009 at 11:21 am
It was great to finally see Jesse instead of just hearing him on JJGo! He fit in pretty well… and I’m sure he gets more of the music references than he admits. Come on.. who doesn’t love REO?
In my grocery store, there is a rotating bag dispenser, so that there are six available bag slots. The cashier tends to fill up the bags as he/she is scanning and then rotating to the next bag. It’s the customer’s job to then take the bags as they are rotated toward their side of the register. It’s pretty efficient and it helps the cashier put like things together in the bags.

I know Jimmy already said it, but Matt’s “Y’all have claim to fames?” MUST be in the season 6 intro. Also, it reminded me of David Cross talking about growing up Jewish in Atlanta “Do y’alls people eat oatmeal?”
April 30th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
This WAS what we call a good podcast.
Also, I think the new slogan for maximumfun.org should be ‘Jesse Thorn: A Classy Operation’.
April 30th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
One last thing, I think Matt needs to Car Talk this shit and just drop in Jesse’s laughs every once in a while from now on.
April 30th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
I’m a big fan of TSOYA and JJGo, but I still wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw Jesse was the guest. I’ve never heard him out of the driver’s seat. But holy crap did he knock it out of the park! Great episode. I love the bit about Jimmy always looking for his next charge. This episode was hysterical.
April 30th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
I would also like to say that I watched this episode very late at night and so when the video intro to Judge Jimmy popped in unexpected, it TERRIFIED ME! Kudos, Koenig!
April 30th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
I finally stepped up to the Primo after a year of being a cheap jerk. This was my first full episode. Already worth it, will be buying the other seasons in due time.
- Seconding the Viceroy - Jesse knocked it out of the park.
- Jimmy suggesting he was “Cluck” on Car Talk killed me. As did “We will not be honest” when chastising andrew. Took me a second to catch up. “We will not be honest, she does look like she has down syndrome, we will lie and say otherwise.”
April 30th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
Those of you talking about your grocery store’s protocol, irrevevant! Judge Jimmy ruled. Verdict final. All shoppers must help bag. Forever. Regardless of bag situation.
Jesse Thorn= fan-freaking-tastic. I can’t wait to see the video because it sounded like he was dressed like Colonel Saunders.

If it means anything to Jimmy, I play baseball at LA Valley college and everyone on the team, including myself wears stirrups. Great episode

Hey gang, thanks so much for all the kind words. I love the shit out of Never Not Funny — I’ve been listening literally since the first episode — and it was a great honor to be invited. I find myself getting involved in the coversation inside my head while I’m listening and walking my dog, so it was nice to finally get some interactivity.
And I do not love REO.
I do, however, love Keek Da Sneak, so if anybody wants to quote lyrics from “Super Hyphy” or “Fast Like A Nascar,” I’m on board.

This episode was in the Top 7 Best Episodes Ever.

Next up: British radio celebrity Jesse Thorne.
May 3rd, 2009 at 8:16 am
@Chrissy 15, That line reminded me of the Mr Show Civil War reenactment skit: “Y’all got fake poo?”
May 3rd, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Awesome episode! Jesse turned out to be a great guest and a gentleman with his nod to the NNF fans on this page.
Folks, Jimmy mentions his appearance on Adam Corolla’s podcast but that episode is no longer up on AC’s site and I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Bag your groceries, friend!

Dom DeLuise died…happy, Pardo?
Mariano, I have the Carolla episode with JP. Loconzly at gmail.

I didn’t spring for the video at first because I find the video less funny than just audio. I don’t know why, but I always laugh more with just audio, I guess it seems more awkward in the videos. BUT there is always one episode in the season where I have to buy the video. This episode is it. Had to see the suit. on Thorn. Worth It.
The video feed cut out quite a bit in this ep.
May 6th, 2009 at 12:43 am
@30
I thought the video was cutting out too, but I scanned back a few seconds when it happened and the problem never repeated. I don’t know if that would be the case with everyone, but you should try it to see if the same happens on your machine.

Jesse Thorn Is Top 6 Guest On The Short, You Know Why? “Because He Get It.”

Thanks, Eric M!

NNF causes another celebrity to die. Mention Wayman Tisdale, a basketball player I hadn’t thought of in years, and then today I found out he died from cancer. Man you guys are good, or harbingers of death, whichever works for you.
May 18th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
Indeed, Chrissy, I think this is the first mention of the good Reverend Horton Heat on this show.
But I have to remind you guys, you do know at least one rapper. Mister Howard Kremer, also known as Dragonboy Suede. He mentions in his rhyming his possession of a Nut Valet, and all the wonderful things you can do with said person. Would this be similar in any way to the Body Man who carries around the president’s chapstick?
May 24th, 2009 at 7:55 am
@Chrissy M and Steph S
I’m afraid this is definitely not the first mention of the reverend on the show. He came up way back in season 1.
May 27th, 2009 at 7:05 am
favorite of season 5. Such a great eppy.
