Retiring early with Maria Bamford.
Retiring early with Maria Bamford.
Glad to have Maria back! I enjoyed the show, though it bums me out when Jimmy gets angry about the handful of listeners that get under his skin. It puts a pall on the show. I guess I would get irritated at those fuck-knuckles as well, but it’s just not very fun.
I’m sort of an internet denizen and from every popular personality out there, there’s a sentiment of not giving your detractors lip service. Really hope Jimmy stops talking about people that give him shit. There are just so many people listening that there’s bound to be a few people who will be vocal about their minor disagreements.
It’s particularly weird to me that Jimmy really even cares what some schmucks on the internet say. Especially when he has made a career of disregarding a few idiots in a crowd.
There’s a few things I vehemently disagree with Jimmy (and probably Matt, Eliott, Garon) about. It’s just that I don’t think talking about these sort of issues is possible in the comments of a podcast website, and it’s not the place for it. The show is great, and the political or musical opinions are entirely tertiary to my enjoyment of it.
Jon from Sask.
And no Bil Dwyer? D:< Everyone with me! ATTICA! ATTica! Attica… attica??… I mean the Bamf was delightful. What a joy!
One of the best! I’ve become a huge fan of Maria from her appearances on the show, and this was another great one. Season 15 is off to a strong start.
I understand why Jimmy gets annoyed by a lot of comments on this site. I get annoyed by it too, because NNF brings me nothing but joy. Hopefully the trolls will soon realize how dumb they come off as, and stop.
Matt didn’t mention the best part about the theme song for “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood”:
Won’t you, ride along with me
My son still watches that show every day, and I ALWAYS have to sing along with the “(RIDE ALONG!)” echo. And I sometimes sing it at work. And the shower.

have to disagree with most, just a so so beginning to season 15. After being disappointed by a repeat at the end of 14 I was hoping for a little better, pick up the pace boys
Working on that “Cooze in the carpool lane” icon.
Is the 7/11 featured in the intro the building for the old studio?
Much love, ya’ll, much love. For the record I’ve only ever been trying to have fun here. Sold my Paul McCartney tickets to see jimmy on Saturday; stub hub doesn’t pay quick enough so I didn’t go. You win over ONE OF THE FREAKING BEATLES, for me.
Alex Chilton was not in the Replacements. Paul Westerberg was and wrote a tribute song called “Alex Chilton” however.
I’ve had a couple crappy times going to shows by myself lately, too. I’ll see a band and just hang in the back with a beer but then I’m subjected to the loudest, most obnixious assholes talking through the entire show. And no matter where I move in the venue, I seem to find more of them. Doesn’t help that the bands I was seeing were pretty quiet to begin with, Angel Olsen and Earth, respectively.
Oh, Chris! I’d love to see Earth, its a shame to hear that people weren’t taking it in. A couple of months ago I got a google notification that Earth would be playing at a local casino. Turns out the casinos calendar used “Earth” as a place holder for Earth, Wind, & Fire. BOOO.
At the end of the show, Maria says she’s coming to St. Louis. When?! I can’t find the info anywhere online! And Matt didn’t mention it in the dates. I saw her do stand-up live a few years back, and it was one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. I’d love to see her again!
Yeah Joe! ^ I heard St. Louis for sure. I caught her at the Firebird in 2012. That the one you were talking about?
I just checked Marias site, Firebirds site and both Funny Bones here to no avail.,,
I already missed Doug Benson last month because I was a few weeks back-logged on listening to Doug Loves Movies… I don’t want to miss Bamfoo!
I don’t care that Jimmy doesn’t like the concept of seasons. I’ve been listening since the beginning as an elite member and later as a player’s club member, and season 14 was easily one of the best if not the best season ever.
I’m so tired of all the little small minded complaints here.
Two episodes a week!? For the same price!? Are you kidding me? Stop complaining; shut the fuck up; listen to the show.
Not 100 % happy with every single word? Shut the fuck up and listen to the next one. It’s great.
I know the video changes were made a bunch of episodes ago. But I really like the new video quality. It’s good enough to watch on a tv! Also, I like how there’s been more cuts to the guest and Garon and a little less of the picture in picture. Good job, Eliot!! (I hope that Eliot is still reading these comments)
For Matt’s relationship advice to Maria, he really should have suggested that they agree on what brand of garbage bags to buy before getting too serious. Just nip that one in the bud before there are children around to traumatize.
Darryl, to be waved over and get yelled at for buying a cheap bin bag (which had curdled yogurt!!!) may be a deal breaker!
Loving the new season. It’s always a joy when old guests and favorites are on! Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, but let’s keep it civil or constructive 🙂 As Jimmy would say, we’re all God’s creatures, but then again he also said you’re dumb and I’m cool (FOR HUMOR).
Thanks, ps. Yeah, we finally found a file serving solution that allows for better video, and I am super happy to provide it to you guys!
I still personally like the 3 up video, I like that you don’t miss reactions, but I have my method of choosing. Glad you’re enjoying it!
For those of you who aren’t on the Facebook NNF video fans page (and why aren’t you?) I cross-posted Eliot’s brief history of his involvement with Never Not Funny over at Never Not Notes. Click and enjoy!
I dunno, I enjoy when Jimmy rages against some dumb asshole on the internet.
Hey I started listening to the show when it came to Earwolf last season, and I liked it so much I went Primo for S15. Great start so far, can’t wait to hear (and see!) what comes next. Enjoyed the inclusion of “YOU GET TO KEEEP IIIIITT!” in the opening.
Nick, Earth was great. I think they’re going on a big tour in September when their new album comes out.
Funny, Jow and P Jones posted right below me. I’m in St. Louis, too! I’ll definitely be at whatever show Maria does here, whenever it is.
