Adam Ferrara gets it! Loved it.

I sympathize with Matt on the John Lennon/80s thing. I listen to 1st Wave on sirius and every now and then they play “Right Here Right Now” by Jesus Jones, and that irritates the hell out of me. Love the song, don’t think it qualifies as classic alternative.

The Top 100 Albums of 1980, via Billboard: http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/charts/archivesearch/article_display/855454
I found it through a Sporcle quiz, of all things.

Love the episode.

I’m so glad Adam was on. I’m a huge fan of Top Gear, and Adam is hilarious.

This was excellent but I don’t want to talk about it on the podcast. We got an open line here.

”
Dylan says…
“

This was amazing. Adam was a great guest – I’m not into cars but I’ll check out Top Gear.

Jim Glass says…
“

Spiderman song was priceless,Man I love this podcast.

An American Top Gear? If you want entertainment watch the original British Top Gear. That show is just pure awesome sauce. It’s guaranteed to cure vegetarianism.

Professional Peanut Throwers is going to be the name of my next fantasy team.

“

Horshack! Nooooo!
(Can NNFN take credit for this one too?)

Matt is right about the decades deal, decades are defined as 1-10 so 1981-1990 is TECHNICALLY in the same decade. This was pounded in my head by my High School science teacher because everyone was talking about the year 2000 (in the year two-thousaaaaaannnnd) being the start of the 21st Century. He had a bit of a nerd-rage in class one day, and spent the entire day talking about this.

On second thought, I’m not sure if my wacko science teacher agreeing with you on this helps you in any way, Matt.

Really liked this one! has Adam ever been on before?

You Remember “High On Copper”, they opened up for Metal Skool.

Adam was great! He was so good, he has convinced me to give the American Top Gear another try.

No offense to anyone involved with the American Top Gear, but the British version is just SO good that it’s hard to be compared to.

I can’t count the number of times I recommended Top Gear to people who protest that they are not “car people.” I just explain that 75% of it is a comedy show disguised as a car show. The only 25% are car reviews, sure, but done in a very entertaining way.

Anyway… I’ll put a little more patience into the American version, because I’m sure I’ll enjoy Adam’s parts.

For anyone giving American Top Gear a shot these are my favorite episodes:

S1 E3 – Flying Coupe Deville (moonshine running ep)
S1 E5 – Beater Boot Camp (contest for best GM vehicle to bring back)
S1 E9 – America’s Toughest Trucks (Alaska ep)
S2 E4 – Death Valley (who has the best 4×4)

“

On the shitty clock situation, how about auctioning it for Smile Train, and getting a better one. It would be a nice piece of memorabilia for the hardcore NNF fan.

”
Clint R says…
“

I recommend people try and watch the British version. It won best show of decade. :)
Just skip the US special. Your country doesn’t come off very good in that. :)

”
Gabe M says…
“

Jesus Christ, does the British Top Gun production office buy a group subscription or something?

Loved the episode!

”
Andrew says…
“

Y’all done killed Ron Palillo.

”
laura says…
“

Watching the British version doesn’t really do anything to help friend of the show Adam Ferrara.

I would totally get in on the bidding for the clock, should they ever choose to auction it off.

Cause I’m a dork like that.

”
Magnus T says…
“

Ha! I think a lot of NNF fans are also Top Gear fans. Some aspects of Pardo’s humor are similar to Clarkson’s.

”
Gert bullriges says…
“

What stupid fickpeng kind of Shit is thord, butter my ASS with honey and knit me a tshirt. Porn smells. Y’all nazi gay women with soggy tits. Wake up and smell me.

How has it taken ELEVEN seasons for the guys to break into the spider-man theme song?

That was so natural it feels like it should have come up day ONE.

”
Andrea says…
“

Great guest! He gets it!!! There’s something about him that takes me back to the season 1 and 2 dynamic.

I would like to nominate “Copper man, let’s go to the map!” for next season’s opening.

”
Sean says…
“

Gert bullriges scared me a little…

”
Justin says…
“

I nominate “…a bagel with your name on it…” for season 12 open. Sweet Jesus.

”
Patrick says…
“

Great episode. NNF always seems to introduce me to games I’m not aware of. First it was Words with Friends, and now I’m completely hooked on Song Pop! Thanks guys!

”
Murray says…
“

I’m deeply sorry, but I’m going to wade into the decades issue:
I don’t agree with Matt’s decades thing. Century/Millenia numbers – sure, technically there’s an argument that because there was no year 0, the first century went from 1AD – 100AD, the second century from 101 – 200, et cetera. Hence a pile of people with no friends refusing to party like it’s 1999 in 1999. I have even heard people argue on the same basis that it wasn’t a new decade until January 1, 2011. But when you say “the 80s” or “the 1800s”, that’s not based on some sequence that dates back to January 1, 1AD, that’s just referring to what number the year is, so I can’t see why you’d count 1980 as anything but 1980s.

Nerd, me? No, why do you ask?
