Raising the roof with Aisha Tyler.
Raising the roof with Aisha Tyler.
Wow. The curse got Steve.
This episode is hilarious (and a mile-a-minute!), but i raced here to post the same comment. RIP Steve Jobs, the cult of personality worships no other.
This is the first episode in over five years that I didn’t enjoy. I PROMISE it’s not because she’s black, just unfunny.
I guess this is what I get for taking Jimmy’s looseleaf-sized iPod idea…
Oh NO. I just got to where Jimmy says the comments like the one I just made make him bent out of shape. I’m sorry, Jimmy, please be my friend.
Very excited to be the 5th person in 7 comments to mention that the curse got Steve Jobs.
Aisha Tyler must have a riff gatling gun. Great episode.
Awesome guest, but the chemistry was missing – which is obviously Pardo’s fault. Screw that guy.
By the way – Elliot and that intern have way too much airtime – and I don’t mean that in a cheeky haha-Pardo-always-says-that way, I mean they literally should not be on mic. Or camera. Matt is perfectly capable of being yelled at and surfing around Wikipedia for 80s bands. Who gives a remote fuck if Elliot likes chicken wings or what that intern prefers to use his genitalia for?
I have been wondering if this would ever happen, the NNF gang have mentioned Aisha here and there.
I enjoyed the episode, Aisha….take a breath.
Fuck you Pat Francis.
919! A Raleigh fan of Never Not Funny here! (no major league team; just the AAA Durham Bulls and the AA Carolina Mudcats)
Looking forward to enjoying this episode, just like any other ep of NNF.
I’m so glad that people don’t feel compelled to treat all of life like podcast comments.
“This one wasn’t quite as funny…”
“The guys were great, but…”
“I usually love everything you do, but I don’t think the guest…”
I’ll be by your house later to talk about how you screwed up dinner with too much salt, or that your elevator conversation is SUPER awkward, or that your jeans are starting to look a bit snug, or that your car is so 2006, or that your girlfriend phoned me to say that you really didn’t bring it for the last six months before she dumped you for an insurance agent. Because of course, everything *you* do needs to be flawless in just the way I like it to be.
Constructive feedback is fine, I think, but what the hell does someone do with “it wasn’t quite as funny”? Go listen to one of Carolla’s live shows and enjoy the drops.
It is Thanksgiving here in good ol’ Canada. I, as a Canadian, have to say that I am thankful for the pardcast! You make for an enjoyable Monday!
i liked matt’s hair.
… does this mean my ipad is going to die?
You go to hell, Pat Francis! You go to hell and you die! In fact, I want Elliot and creepy foot intern to replace you as the go-to guests when no one else is available. You just go do your “rocky roll” podcast with Lucy Van Pelt and leave the chicken wing commentary to the big boys. How does that sound?!?
I loved this episode, the whole atmosphere was just fantastic. Best episode in a while in my opinion.
Wow, Matt is prescient!
Wanted to hear that argument Jimmy had about Redd Foxx and I been curious as to what Jimmy said at the end of Doug Loves Movies that got bleeped.
Loved this episode, Aisha is a great guest. Hope she becomes a regular, she is a breath of crazy, loud talking, funny fresh air! p.s. the curse is alive and well (unlike Steve Jobs) – your only Native American listener
Tyler – listen to the most recent “rental car” episode on Doug Loves Movies, he addresses “Pardogate”
Cecily – Thank you, had those in my queue already just never got to them yet.
I’ve got some bad news. As I am a die-hard, pre-iPod Apple fanboy who came very close to worshiping Steve Jobs, if there was anything that could get me to stop listening to this show, it would be the NNF curse killing him. It’s clear that Never Not Funny is the podcast equivalent of the Chuck Palahniuk novel ‘Lullaby’ but I am still here so you’re stuck with me!
We might need to check with Darryl on this to be sure but, Jimmy and Aisha talking about their riff guns might have resulted in the most uses of the word ‘gun’ in a non-Graham Elwood episode.
Yes, Aisha, the cake is a lie.
Agree with Ryan best atmosphere, since Dan’s haircut with Janet Varney. Ladies are welcome well on NNF. So I guess I love Hot Saucerman too!.
I yelled OH NO, when Matt said “we are mocking a guy who will probably be dead by the time this comes out”.
Awesome episode, the start was a little rough when Aisha and Jimmy were more crashing into each other instead of bouncing off but boy did it pick up once everyone got into the same rhythm.
I’m laughing out loud right now. Good energy.
I’m subscribed to the premium feed in itunes and got this error while trying to download this episode. Anyone else have this problem? http://i.imgur.com/n85sc.jpg
Also, this being episode 919, it’s no surprise as to its extra powerful cursing abilities. 9+1+9= 19. The Ka-Tet of 19 has taken Steve Jobs to Serve the Beam.
Had so much fun with this one!
No Hardcastle mention on 9-19!?!?!? it even has the stutter!! “N-N-N-N-NINE-NINETEEN”
Wow, never thought I would here a portal joke in NNF.
iSad about Steve Jobs…
I am seriously worried about Stephanie Mills!
I wonder if we can dedicate at least 30 minutes for talk about ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Specifically, I’d like to hear your opinions on how Nancy Grace does on a weekly basis. Hopefully you won’t have to do it for long, and the world will owe you big time for it.
Thank you for your time.
Aisha was a fabulous guest. More than held her own and I think raised the bar? And i dare say Pardo, gave you a whole new respect for singularities?
BTW I need the interns ” big mistake” t shirt-where can I get?
God, really funny. Big time personality, Aisha Tyler. Really funny.
Not only did the NNF curse hit Steve Jobs, The Co-writer of Jimmy’s Favorite song “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” (And member of the CDB, was killed yesterday in a single car accident. On his way to a show in my hometown.
What a great episode. Aisha is quick on her feet and a wit. When Matt said, “we are mocking a guy who will probably be dead by the time this comes out”, I froze. How ironic, unlike Alannis Morissette. Just when I think that the podcast can’t get better, it does! Thanks guys.
I love every episode….they are all flawless!! But, I gasped when I heard all the Steve Jobs talk! Crazy curse!!
I’m only 15 minutes in, but I paused just to come here and say this is the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time.
Another winner Jimmy. Aisha is as quick and witty as she is beautiful. Dan, I have been wearing my Vibrams for about a year. Go Dan. Thanks for the Elliot ass chew. Great episode.
As the number of comments proves, Aisha is finally the first good new guest this season.
Just when I thought the mere mention of the imac from last week pushed Mr. jobs to the welcoming arms of death, he was actually mentioned just days before (and the way Matt joked about it was too coincidental). I thought, “Oh no he didn’t” (not because the guest is a lady of color). That was the kill shot!
When I saw Aisha was the guest, the first thing that came to mind was an Al Madrigal episode (I think). Really enjoyed the episode, it wasn’t weird or uncomfortable!
While some of the guests weren’t to others’ taste, I think Jimmy and team have always found the funny not like other shows (tv, podcast, radio, etc) here the guests or panel have to carry the show while the host tries to be funny. Pardo Patrol is awesome, though I was hoping there would be one with Dave Grohl.
The number of comments shows how amazed/surprised/weirded out some folks are when it was revealed that the gang had spoken of Steve Jobs and his possible death two days before it actually happened. Maybe Matt can speculate when the iPhone 5 will be released. That was Seve Ballesteros random/weird.
Although I must say that Zsa Zsa Gabor is still alive, one let and all….
Fantastic episode, a great one to listen to while running (except the constant laughing out loud and the subsequent stares). It was worth it though!. Hope Aisha back on soon. Oh, and “Hole of Color” may be one my fantasy baseball teams next year.
Hearing the gang talk about Steve Jobs made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. These guys must be wizards or something from the Lord of the Rings trilogy! What I want to know from them now is: should I buy Apple stock or not?, or maybe they could give be tonight’s lotto numbers.
Hey Matt, I like the smell of fog machines too.
“You want fuck machine?”
This was the funniest show in ages! Aisha Tyler rocks like hell!
Oh and yeah, the guess about Steve Jobs was a little scary!
Aisha Tyler is now my favorite Negress. Great ep.
Loved the episode, I was supposed to though right?!?!? Riiiight?!?!
Aisha was a delight – great episode!
“you can suck it like beckham.” so good.
Hey!! The comment above was NOT left by me… the “real” Pat Francis!!!
Screen-name edited for clarity.
This was one of the funniest episodes ever. Certainly in my TOP 5 favorites. BTW, if someone finally leaves their job, as Jobs did, suffering from Pancreatic Cancer, it’s a safe bet that they will “pass” in the near future. (No special skill in predicting that.)
You guys are still the greatest, and I have a great deal more respect and admiration for Elliot, knowing that he won Ben Stein’s Money. The test just to get ONTO that show was ridiculously difficult, and I’m a BRILLIANTLY INTELLIGENT person…. (it’s true, believe me). Either that, or I was being punked back in ’97 when I tried to get on it, and failed miserably.
He did actually WIN Ben Stein’s money, right? That wasn’t some sort of “bit” that I took literally, was it?
Jimmy & Matt owe $10 to the jar! (@ 1 hr 8 min in – the Daryl Hall story) Just keeping the guys honest. (The DH episode was the best ‘Pardo Patrol’ ever!) Aisha! – Gorgeous. Funny. Nuff said. Okay, time to fess up. I miss the REAL Pat Francis. And I also enjoy Eliott & Dan chiming in from time to time. They should have a mic they could share, but one Matt could turn on & off at will. I just blew all credibility admitting this. I’m going to punch myself in the balls now.
that’s great article
